Oliver Cromwell by Chris Collingwood

Oliver Cromwell born 1599 to his father Robert Cromwell, and his mother Elizabeth Steward Cromwell. This painting of Cromwell shows him at the age of 50. From his humble beginnings he became a military leader second to none during the civil war. He was the creator of the Ironsides and was Lord Protector from 1653 to 1658. Many think of him today as a visionary political leader. He died due to a recurring illness on 3rd September 1658.
